VA Loan FAQ

Common Questions — Answered

Can I use a VA loan more than once? ▼
Yes! Your VA loan benefit is reusable. As long as you have remaining entitlement and meet the lender's requirements, you can use your VA benefit again and again throughout your lifetime.
What credit score do I need for a VA loan? ▼
The VA does not set a minimum credit score requirement. Most lenders look for roughly a 620+ score, but Mario works with Veterans across a range of credit situations. Even if your credit isn't perfect, you may still qualify.
Do I really pay $0 down? ▼
In most cases, yes. Qualified Veterans can typically purchase a primary residence with no down payment using a VA loan, up to the amount supported by their entitlement and income. Closing costs and the VA funding fee may still apply.
What's the difference between VA Cash-Out and IRRRL? ▼
VA Cash-Out allows you to access your home equity as cash and can be used to pay off non-VA loans. The IRRRL (Streamline) is specifically for lowering your rate or monthly payment on an existing VA loan — with less paperwork and no appraisal in most cases.
Is my surviving spouse eligible? ▼
Often, yes. The surviving spouse of a Veteran who died in the line of duty or from a service-connected disability may be eligible for VA loan benefits. Contact Mario to discuss your specific situation.
